At the age of thirteen, Jonny decided that he would one day have his own bike shop. He loved all that bike shops were; the smell, the sights, the culture. He was that annoying kid hanging around the bike shop, asking how to tune his well worn derailleur or if they were going to throw out that half used tyre. Nothing excited the pimply teen more than the prospect of one day owning something as magical and special as a Bike shop.

The thing about dreams is that they take a long time and a whole lot of graft to turn into reality. After years of riding and tweaking on bikes, Jonny progressed to managing a large workshop and even wrenching for professional teams and athletes. With each progression of Jonny's career the dream grew more possible.

With careful planning and months of shop fit out on a shoestring budget, Jonny Sprockets opened its doors in June 2012. Jonny knew that this wasn't going to be easy and that this was a one shot chance at making the dream work. Toowoomba is traditionally a roadie town. Mountain biking wasn't always the popular sport it is today. The shop opened with a small but carefully chosen range of high end mountain bikes and components, in a small, but warm space. This was very much the polar opposite to what was available in town at the time. Early brands included Norco, Lapierre and Santa cruz. The first day open, the shop took a meager $216. However, beyond anyone's expectations, and with a heap of help from family and friends, the shop grew very quickly. Jonny Sprockets met the demand for quality bikes, reasonable prices and personable service. 

In 2019 the shop was bursting at the seams, with 150+ bikes in 120sqm, something had to give. 84 Russell st became available at just the right time. The new space created an even better atmosphere and vibe to what was already a good place to be. Today Jonny Sprockets has the largest range of Mountain Bikes in the area as well as a great range of BMX, Family, and Road bikes.
